About this blog

Clay Cross is a former mining town in North East Derbyshire, UK. In January 2010, work started on a major redevelopment project in the town centre. GMI Property Co. Ltd. have asked me to create a photographic record of the development, and how it changes the landscape, culture and people of the town. This blog is likely to be a diary of my activities over the next year or so.

For more information on the development see the quick links below. I've also created a Set on Flickr, where you will find a selection of the images I produce, and a Clay Cross Flickr group - see the quick links.

Open Day, 26 February

Well, everybody must have been pleased. From 12:00 onwards there was a constant stream of people at the Clay Cross Social Centre - school groups, families, everybody really. There was stone painting, an image wall, local history photos, all sorts. And in the evening, a fascinating slide show on local history from Cliff Williams. People from GMI, Tesco, local councils, Peak FM, the Derbyshire Times, all came along to give their support. Well done Clay Cross. I'll do some images, but not tonight. And finally, thanks to the Clay Cross kebab & curry house, Eyre Street, for finishing the night off with the best curry in the area, in my humble opinion...
